Medical / Dental Clinic Replacement, MCBH
The new two story Clinic will provide medical and dental services for the active duty and beneficiaries stationed at Marine Corp Base (MCB) Hawaii located in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. With its sloped roofs, simple punched window openings with sun shading devices, an exterior building treatment that breaks down the mass of the building forms through the use of design elements and soft earth tone color palette, the new clinic will both reinforce and compliment the architectural theme of the Base. The design meets the challenges of Hawaii’s environment: tropical humidity, corrosive coastal atmosphere, high seismicity, and hurricane force winds. Sustainable design strategies have been carefully incorporated into the facility’s design in order to achieve a Silver Rating through the U. S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Building Rating System. A total of 338 parking spaces are distributed around all four sides of the building with access points from both Harris Avenue to the east and Selden Street to the south which are primary roadways on base. Entrances are located on different sides of the building which allows the site to be organized to lessen vehicular and pedestrian circulation conflicts as well as shorten the walking distance from parking to the building. Departments: Immunizations, Education & Training, Information Management, Logistics, Administration, Behavioral Health, Optometry Clinic, Primary Care / Family Practice, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy (SMART Clinic), Occupational Health / Preventive Medicine / Audiology, Marine Centered Medical Home Team, Dental Clinic, Common Areas, Mechanical/ Electrical Spaces.
