Ambulatory Care Clinic Replacement at 22 Area

SS&A provided design and engineering services for the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) replacement at 22 Area, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, delivering a modern healthcare facility that supports the daily medical and dental needs of active-duty personnel and their families. The new ACC consolidates primary care, dental services, specialty clinics, administrative functions, and support spaces into a cohesive, mission-ready environment.

The facility is strategically located on the former Mini Mart site, directly across from the existing medical building. The project included detailed site investigation and design documentation to support demolition and redevelopment, allowing the campus to evolve while maintaining continuity of care. Phased planning was critical to minimize disruption to ongoing medical operations during construction.

The design addressed extensive site and infrastructure improvements, including utility upgrades, access drives, parking, and circulation enhancements that improve functionality and long-term resilience. Preparations for future solar energy integration were incorporated into the design, reinforcing the project’s forward-looking approach to energy performance and sustainability.

As part of the broader campus transformation, the project also included design documentation supporting the eventual demolition of the existing medical facility, Building 22190. Architectural, engineering, and site design strategies were coordinated to create a secure, efficient, and adaptable healthcare environment that meets the evolving needs of the installation.

Through careful planning and integrated design, the replacement ACC at Camp Pendleton enhances medical readiness, modernizes aging infrastructure, and delivers a durable, patient-focused facility aligned with the operational mission of the Marine Corps.
