General Description
When the parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Millbrook, Alabama, and sister parish St. Mark the Evangelist of Wetumpka, Alabama, decided to merge into one parish, they selected Sherlock, Smith & Adams to master plan and design the new church campus and support facilities. The site for the new facility, named Our Lady of Guadalupe, is located in Elmore, Alabama, and offers more than 49 acres of gently rolling terrain. The master plan organized five projected phases of construction to include a 1000-seat banquet facility, a 1000-seat church, a K-8 elementary school and administration facility, a family life/recreation center, and an assisted living facility. The chosen architectural style is Spanish Mission.

The master plan layout developed around the linear nature of the property and mostly level terrain, establishing a central exterior court area on the central site axis. Buildings surround and define the court, which includes a bell tower. As the phases are built out, a perimeter ring road, peripheral parking areas, a proposed assisted living facility, and ball fields will complete the layout. A wooded area along the creek at the north end of the site will be used for a nature trail. Phase I construction included the banquet hall, which is also being used as an interim worship space.
