SS&A provided design/build RFP documents for a new Combat Control School campus arrangement. We assisted the Savannah District COE in evaluating contractor proposals and provided review comments on successful design/build A/E's technical submittal.
The academic/administration building contains classrooms and office spaces, a weapons vault, museum space (included as a design competition in the RFP), individual storage locker rooms, and a supply distribution area. An indoor firing range building consists of computer controlled pneumatic and electronic targets and range control systems, a frangible munitions bullet trap and recovery system, 3-position multi-distance shooting lanes with shooting barrier mounts at each distance, and a weapons cleaning area. The physical training building includes an indoor pool with swim lanes, support space for storage and equipment, male and female locker/shower rooms, and an exercise room. An outdoor climbing and rappelling tower consists of three climbing levels (4 stories) and three facades each with different exterior materials.
