Methodist Homes Corporation’s Dothan, Alabama facility is being updated to replace the existing institutional appearance with a fresh functional layout of the 20-acre campus. This continuing care community will replace deteriorated independent living apartments with new garden homes and a two-story apartment building which will become the new “front door” to the community, creating a new identity.
This redesign will change the institutional appearance to a residential design. Separate entries are included for independent living, assisted living and the nursing rehabilitation unit. “Households” in skilled nursing include a living room, dining room, and residential kitchen in each 16-25 bed unit. The assisted living “main street” has a promenade for social community functions. There is an assisted living controlled unit and an Alzheimer’s unit. New parking areas and drives with updated way-finding and landscaping reorganize the independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing areas on the site.
