The fire protection engineers at Sherlock, Smith & Adams work with the design team to ensure all aspects of the design meet the requirements of the fire protection design codes applicable to each project. Our fire protection engineers are versed in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes including the Life Safety Code, as well as the International Codes such as the IBC, IFC, IPC, IMC, etc., and the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) such as UFC 3-600-01 and UFC 4-510-01. Early in the design, our fire protection engineers ensure that concept layouts meet means of egress requirements and that the proposed structure meets all code requirements. This early analysis is critical to determine if preliminary costs are appropriate and that circulation and exiting are adequate, so that as the design progresses, adjustments are not required that may impact functional areas.
