General Description
Sherlock, Smith & Adams, in association with TMP Architecture, provided architectural and engineering services for the University of Alabama for expansion and renovation of the Student Recreation Center. The recreation facilities master plan included updating the appearance of the existing facility and ensuring that the design aesthetically and fundamentally integrates the renovated space with the newly constructed areas.
 
The renovation plan included a resurfaced jogging track; a new climbing wall and outdoor storage component; an expanded passive recreation area; an expanded and enhanced lobby; an expanded physical therapy/athletic training room; renovated locker rooms; one or two additional specialized activity rooms; an expanded retail component including a juice bar and lounge areas; a new outdoor pool and sun deck; the relocation of University recreation administration offices; and the inclusion of human performance studies offices, labs and classrooms.
