Los Angeles Air Force Base, located just south of LAX Airport, is in a high-tech aerospace industrial area where many of the buildings have highly refined metal panel skins. The base is following this neighborhood vernacular, so the new medical/dental clinic follows suit. The facility is arranged around a central two-story atrium space under a series of stepped arched roofs, which allow daylight to enter far into the building through the clerestory windows between the steps. The high volume clinics and ancillary services are located on the first floor. The dental clinic, administration, and low volume outpatient areas are located on the second floor.
