Project Architect

Montgomery, Alabama

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Project Architect will be a licensed Architect with five + years of design experience.  Candidates who are not licensed, but have completed the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), are in the process of taking the Architect Registration Exam (ARE) and have sufficient experience may be considered.  Experience should include design of institutional, health care and/or public facilities.  Design experience using Revit and AutoCAD software is required.  Travel – including overseas – is required for project field investigations and project conferences.

The Project Architect position requires a person that is a team player and can assist in multi-discipline project coordination.  Potential candidates should have a professional work ethic and the ability to interface with the client on a daily basis.  Excellence in this position will lead to Project Management opportunities. 

Many of the projects will be buildings constructed or renovated on US Federal Government property. The Candidate must be able to obtain a US Passport and be able to pass US Federal Government required background checks. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Professional degree in architecture

Requires 5+ years related architectural design experience in the A/E industry.

Previous Project Architect experience is required; previous Project Management experience is a plus.     

The preferred Candidate will have worked on the design of health care and/or government buildings and have a history of conducting on-site field work investigations and attending client meetings.

The Candidate will be a registered architect or in the process of completing the ARE.

Must have excellent problem solving and communications skills.

Experience with Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required.  

Civil Engineer/Designer

Montgomery, Alabama

Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc., a mid-size A/E firm has an opening for a Civil Engineer/Designer with two years of experience.  A four-year degree is required. Strong Civil 3D skill is required.  This candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position required during site visits.  Applicant must be able to follow both written and verbal instruction and have good communication skills with co-workers and clients.

SS&A produces a wide array of project types, providing a challenging and enriching work atmosphere. There are many opportunities to increase one's knowledge of the whole design process, with in-house engineers and architects working together on each project from concept through construction.

Electrical Designer-Degreed

Montgomery, Alabama

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The duties of the Electrical Designer will be to design electrical and communications systems for buildings. The electrical systems include normal and emergency power distribution systems, lighting systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, public address systems, nurse call systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, CCTV systems, and voice/data systems.  The Designer will be required to develop electrical Revit drawings, write specifications, and perform cost estimating.  Travel is required for project field investigations and project conferences. This position requires a person that is a team player, has a very professional work ethic and the ability to interface with the client on a daily basis. Many of the projects will be buildings to be constructed or renovated on U.S. Federal Government property.  The candidate must be a legal U.S. citizen, be able to obtain a U.S. passport and be able to pass U.S. Federal Government required background checks in order to have access to these U.S. Federal Government properties.   

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Candidate must have excellent problem solving, communications and computer skills.

Must have earned a college degree in Electrical Engineering by Spring of 2018 and agree to begin this job position within 2 weeks after graduation.

Minimum required GPA: 3.0

This position requires the candidate have the career goal of becoming a Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama.

Experience with Revit, Autodesk® Autocad and Microsoft Office will be considered a plus.

A history of community service/volunteer work will be considered a plus.

Electrical Designer

Mechanical Engineer

SS&A is seeking a professional mechanical engineer with HVAC experience.

  • A Professional Engineering registration is preferred (or able to obtain within first year of employment)
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience working with HVAC design and understand the concepts
  • Must have experience with TRACE 700 load calculation software
  • Must be proficient with current version of AUTOCAD
  • Experience with Revit/BIM software required 
  • Must be able to obtain clearance to work on U.S. Military bases
  • Possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport
  • Any candidate for this position must be career oriented and desirous of long term employment and advancement within the company
  • The candidate must be a graduate of an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).  The candidate’s engineering degree must be acceptable to allow Professional Registration in any U.S. state
  • A background check may be required

Structural Engineer 

Montgomery, Alabama

Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc., a full-service A/E firm based in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a motivated Structural Engineer having PE and/or SE licensure and experience in Institutional, Medical, and/or other Public Building Facility types. Structural Engineer Interns with sufficient experience would be considered. Qualifications of a successful candidate would include the following.

  • Career oriented and desirous of long term employment and advancement within the Company.

  • BSCE or MSCE degree from an ABET accredited university.

  • 5 to 15 years minimum experience in design of steel, concrete, and cold-formed metal structural systems. 

  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software. Bentley RAM (preferred) or STAAD.

  • Expertise in AutoCAD. Significant exposure to REVIT.

  • Building design experience in high seismic and wind areas considered a plus.

  • Experience in evaluation and retrofit designs of existing buildings.

  • U.S. citizen, must be able to obtain clearance to work on U.S. Military bases

  • Possess or be able to obtain a U.S. passport.

  • Able to pass a background check.
