Project Architect

Montgomery, Alabama

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Project Architect will be a licensed Architect with five + years of design experience.  Experience should include design of commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities.  Design experience using Revit and AutoCad software is required.  Travel is required for project field investigations and project conferences. This position requires a person that is a team player, has a very professional work ethic and the ability to interface with the client on a daily basis. Many of the projects will be buildings to be constructed or renovated on US Federal Government property. The Candidate must be a legal US Citizen, be able to obtain a US Passport and be able to pass US Federal Government required background checks in order to have access to these US Federal Government properties. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires 5+ years related architectural design experience in the A/E industry. The preferred Candidate shall have designed US Federal Government Buildings and have a history of conducting on-site field work investigations and attended project meetings at those facilities. Civil Engineer/Designer

Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc., a mid-size A/E firm has an opening for a Civil Engineer/Designer with two years of experience.  A four-year degree is required. Strong Civil 3D skill is required.  This candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position required during site visits.  Applicant must be able to follow both written and verbal instruction and have good communication skills with co-workers and clients.

Estimator

Montgomery, Alabama

SS&A is seeking a degreed applicant with Cost Estimating and Analyst experience.

  • A Professional certification is preferred (or able to obtain within first year of employment). Certification may be from AACE (CCP, CEP, EVP), ICEC and/or PCEA

  • Must have 2+ years’ experience working with Cost Estimating. Experience with Government, commercial and education projects is preferred.

  • Must be familiar with current version of AUTOCAD and Excel.  Working knowledge of the following estimating software systems is preferred:  Success, MII, PACES, On-Screen Takeoff, Earthworks

  • Experience with estimating software required. 

  • Possess or be able to obtain a US Passport

Electrical Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The primary duties of the Electrical Designer will be to design electrical systems for buildings. The electrical systems include normal and emergency power distribution systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, public address systems, nurse call systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, CCTV systems, fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, voice/data systems.  The individual will be required to develop electrical Revit and AutoCAD drawings, write specifications, develop electrical engineering studies, and perform cost estimating.  Travel is required for project field investigations and project conferences. This position requires a leader with a team player personality, a very professional work ethic and the ability to interface with the client on a daily basis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires a BSEE and 3 years related experience in the A/E industry. Prefer a candidate that has passed FE exam. Must have excellent problem solving and communications skills. Experience with Revit is required. In addition, the candidate must have strong experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software such as SKM Captor/Dapper. Must be willing to travel.  

A plus for candidates would be a history of community service/volunteer work.

Mechanical Engineer

SS&A is seeking a professional mechanical engineer with HVAC experience.

  • A Professional Engineering registration is preferred(or able to obtain within first year of employment)
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience working with HVAC design and understand the concepts
  • Must have experience with TRACE 700 load calculation software
  • Must be proficient with current version of AUTOCAD
  • Experience with Revit/BIM software required 
  • Must be able to obtain clearance to work on US Military bases
  • Possess or be able to obtain a US Passport
  • Any candidate for this position must be career oriented and desirous of long term employment and advancement within the company
  • The candidate must be a graduate of an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).  The candidate’s engineering degree must be acceptable to allow Professional Registration in any U.S. state
  • A background check may be required

Structural Engineer

Medical Planner/Medical Equipment Planner 

Montgomery, Alabama

Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc. (SS&A) is seeking an experienced Medical Planner / Medical Equipment Planner with demonstrated medical planning / medical equipment planning skills in healthcare facilities. Medical Planning for healthcare projects includes the planning and programming for the documentation for medical and dental facilities.  Medical Equipment Planning for healthcare construction involves the selection, specification, and development of procurement documentation for medical equipment, relative to new construction and renovation projects. This position is based out of Montgomery, AL or remote location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide medical planning / medical equipment planning including clinical space planning, capital equipment needs assessment, identification, specification and coordination with the rest of the design team of equipment requirements.  Work with clients to identify medical equipment needs and requirements based on industry and military outfitting standards

  • Provide professional customer interface and client relations. Interview and verify functional flow, patient workloads, staffing and medical equipment requirements with the client and make recommendations for "best practice of care”
  • Develop medical space requirements (program planning), narratives for clinical concepts of operations
  • Analyzes medical facilities for short and long range planning. Analyze functional layouts and operations. Make recommendations for corrections
  • Resolve medical functional problems arising during construction
  • Manage and maintain the SS&A equipment system, provide specification sheets, cut sheets and data sheets to designers and to the client as required
  • Excellent communication skills with management, clients planning groups and non-technical personnel
  • Working knowledge of a variety of healthcare clinical systems and clinical applications and general knowledge of the operations and organization of all other hospital services and delivery models
  • Previous experience working at DoD medical facilities as a Health Facility Project Planning Officer, Medical Planner or Medical Equipment Logistics/Planner is preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; independent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications; Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; Teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in web-based applications and MS Office 2010+, especially EXCEL
  • AutoCAD  and Revit experience is a plus
  • Must be willing to travel to client locations

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 5+ years’ experience working within a medical treatment facility as a health care professional, Medical Planner,  Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) / Medical Equipment Planner or Health Care Architect. Prefer a candidate with a healthcare planning, clinical or BMET background with exposure to all aspects of the medical planning / medical equipment management process. A working knowledge of SEPS and JSN’s is preferred.
