Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc., a mid-size A/E firm has an opening for a Civil Engineer/Designer with two years of experience. A four-year degree is required. Strong Civil 3D skill is required. This candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position required during site visits. Applicant must be able to follow both written and verbal instruction and have good communication skills with co-workers and clients.

SS&A is seeking a degreed applicant with Cost Estimating and Analyst experience.
A Professional certification is preferred (or able to obtain within first year of employment). Certification may be from AACE (CCP, CEP, EVP), ICEC and/or PCEA
Must have 2+ years’ experience working with Cost Estimating. Experience with Government, commercial and education projects is preferred.
Must be familiar with current version of AUTOCAD and Excel. Working knowledge of the following estimating software systems is preferred: Success, MII, PACES, On-Screen Takeoff, Earthworks
Experience with estimating software required.
Possess or be able to obtain a US Passport

The duties of the Electrical Designer will be to design electrical and communications systems for buildings. The electrical systems include normal and emergency power distribution systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, public address systems, nurse call systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, CCTV systems, voice/data systems. Higher rated candidates will have experience in most of the following areas: Develop electrical CAD drawings, write specifications, develop electrical engineering studies, and perform cost estimating. Travel is required for project field investigations and project conferences. This position requires a person that is a team player, has a very professional work ethic and the ability to interface with the client on a daily basis. Many of the projects will be buildings to be constructed or renovated on US Federal Government property. The Candidate must be able to obtain a US Passport and be able to pass US Federal Government required background checks in order to have access to these US Federal Government properties.
Requires a BSEE and 1-5 years related experience in the A/E industry. The Candidate preferably has designed US Federal Government Buildings and have a history of conducting on-site field work investigations and attended project meetings at those facilities. Prefer the Candidate has passed the FE exam. Must have excellent problem solving and communications skills. In addition, the candidate must have experience with Microsoft Office, Autodesk® AutoCad, Revit and electrical design software such as SKM Captor/Dapper. A plus for the candidate would be to have a history of community service/volunteer work.
SS&A is seeking a professional mechanical engineer with HVAC experience. The successful applicant must have a Professional Registration, with at least seven years working experience in HVAC design and understand the concepts. Experience with Trane TRACE 700 load calculation software is required. A working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit/BIM software is also required. Due to the nature of projects with the DoD, the applicant needs to possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport. Any candidate for this position must be career oriented and desirous of long term employment and advancement within the company. The candidate must be a graduate of an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The candidate’s engineering degree must be acceptable to allow Professional Registration in any U.S. state. LEED AP Certification is a plus.
