The design of this facility is intended to be residential in nature and to provide
each resident a comfortable, safe, and charming environment, allowing seniors
to enjoy both private and community life. Natural light floods the facility
throughout, in keeping with a theme of life and light. A warm, elegant vocabulary
of colors and textures is used in a palette of materials that are easy to maintain.
Accessibility for the physically challenged is of course an important concern,
and has been addressed in all areas of design.
Exterior materials are brick and fiber cement siding, moderated with stone and
sloped shingle roofs. The facility has main entries to both Residential and
Assisted Living areas, providing a distinct identity for each resident group
and for visitors. The Residential entry is located facing the main vehicular
byway, and is visible immediately from the main entry drive. Main entries are
designed so that residents and facility managers are able to greet visitors
immediately upon their entry into the spacious lobbies. Residents and visitors
also find easy access to dining, elevators and other public and residential
areas of the building.
The facility was designed to allow for future expansion of Residential and Assisted
Living wings, as well as future construction of a staffed skilled nursing facility
on site.
