Sherlock, Smith & Adams provided the Naval Facilities Engineering Command,
Atlantic Division, with the architectural design for a new 100,399-square-foot
Comprehensive Health Care Clinic. Located at the Marine Corps Base, Quantico,
Virginia, the clinic replaced an aging existing facility.
The new clinic provides the following Medical Services: Military Medicine, Family
Practice, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology/ Optometry, Preventive/Occupational Medicine,
Psychiatry/Social Work and Pathology. Included in the Dental Clinic is General
Dentistry, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Ancillary
Services provided by the clinic include Pharmacy, Radiology, and Pathology.
In addition to all of the services listed above, the Comprehensive Health Care
Clinic is supplemented with Administrative Offices, Command Unit and Reception/Waiting
Areas.
The building's exterior is Georgian in character to fit the context of the surrounding
area of the campus.
SS&A's landscape design for the Comprehensive Health Care Clinic provided
trees and shrubbery to accent the building's traditionally-styled facade. Medium
shade trees define the parking areas, while medium flowering trees define the
vehicular paths into the complex.
